Who’s Calling Me?… At The Underground Cemetery

30th of October

I think I have mentioned several times that I am not a spooky or a skittish person. Prankster will just waste their time playing pranks on me because there would be no satisfying reaction that will come out of my annoying face.  To perfectly described it “Basag and trip mo pag ako ang tinakot mo”. ha ha.  Probably this is the reason why I came out with My 10 Halloween-Related Wish List post. I don’t easily get scared.

But this does not mean that I don’t have scary experiences.  I have a lot actually and most of them are strange and un-explainable. Most friends told me that those things usually happens to people that does not get scared easily.  Hmn.. if this is true it’s not quite fair!

Let me share to you one particular story that happened during one of my road trips in the area of Quezon and Laguna with my “adventurista” friends.

This happened when we explored the Underground Cemetery in Nagcarlan, Laguna.  It was right after we visited three very old churches in the Laguna area also and we were trying to catch the opening of the “Anakalang Festival”.  It was already late in the afternoon and the sun is already setting when we arrived at the Underground Cemetery.

An ambiance of serenity welcomed us when we reached the place.  The front façade is impressive by how it looks and how it is being maintained.

I am amused that there is a registry at the entrance for visitors – reminds me of a visitor’s registry when you are visiting a wake (grinning).

As the front park has a very welcoming ambiance, it is very much different when it comes to the underground part.  I must admit that it’s a bit creepy when you are taking the stairs down going to the under ground.  It gets more creepier around the altar.  I was (seeing) imagining lots of things while looking at it.

It was quite challenging taking the photos because we were prohibited using the camera flash.

I find the stairs leading to the main exit as an interesting spot to have my solo photo taken so I asked my BFF to take my photo. The stone stairways is strangely cold which made me very uncomfortable sitting there.

As I my BFF is counting the 123 queue I can feel my phone vibrating in my pocket – someone’s calling.

As soon as I heard the camera snapped, I quickly pulled up my phone from my pocket to check who’s calling.  At the same time, my phone also stopped ringing/vibrating.  When I saw the name on the missed call on my phone screen, I climbed out of the stairs leading to the exit running.  Everybody automatically followed me.  I’m not sure if they also ran because I was trying to catch my breath when I reached the open air again.

My BFF who knows every inch of my being “me” was eyeing me suspiciously. I can see on her face that she knew something’s strange is going on.  She automatically asked? Who was that? Who called you? I hesitated to answer for a while then I answered…

You!  You were calling me at the very same time that you were taking my picture. And I asked her where is her phone though I knew fully well that her phone is inside her bag. She gave me a confused look so I showed her my phone screen wherein her name is registered in the “missed call”

My BFF  then quickly locate her phone from her bag and found that it was screen locked but there was indeed on the dialed number is my name. Yep. She was calling me at the very moment that she’s taking my picture… while I’m seeing with my two eyes that she is holding the camera right on my face and not a cell phone.

My 10 Halloween-Related Wish List. A Re-post with A Special Birthday Greetings

I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers posting about their bucket list and wish list.  I have my own list too but I ‘m not sharing it yet because I am looking for a perfect time to post it.

But, I have another wish list that have been kept in my trunk.  I am sharing this not only because Halloween is trending but because this wish list is real.  Who knows, some of you maybe interested in helping me out to make these wishes come true (wink*wink*).

Here is my 10 Halloween-Related Wish List:
  1. Attend a Halloween Costume Party in a real scary costume.
No cute costume please!  A zombie will do. I will not talk to anybody during the entire party.  I will just be lurking around while giving everybody a creepy look.

    zombie
  2. Go Trick or Treat as Addams Family.
"Trick or Treat" was not popular in the province where I grew up so I did not had the chance to experience the fun.  Maybe I could do it this time as “Morticia” and be sweetly addressed by Gomez Addams as “Cara Mia”.  And oh, we are a family of four only so we will be needing an “Uncle Pester” - anybody wants to volunteer as Uncle Pester? I promised we’ll split the candies!

    AddamsFamily
  3. Host a Halloween Party.
Again, I will be Morticia Addams welcoming the guests in a gorgeous black outfit.

    Morticia
Guests will be fetched from their home by a black hearse.
It’s my dream to design a dining table that looks like a slaughter table but everything on it are edible. The menu will mostly be anything like liver, brains and same stuff. The beverages will be anything that looks like fresh blood and will be served by Frankenstein pumping from an IV bag. Something like that…

  4. Play/Pose as a “White Lady” on a bridge from my home town which is known as being haunted by a “white lady”.  This bridge was featured in one of the Halloween edition of  a Philippine TV show "Magandang Gabi Bayan"

I will document the people’s reactions.  Hmn… I’m wondering what would be the perfect scare line… “Boo?”

  5. Interview a vampire that looks like Louis de Pointe du Lac or Lestat de Lioncourt (Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise from the movie “Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles”)
Not Edward Cullens please. He looks like a malnourished kid rather than a vampire.

    brad n tom
  6. Witness a human transform into a werewolf.
No, no! Not Taylor Lautner!  I want to see the fangs and Taylor's abs is very destructing. LOL.
    Taylor-Lautner-Jacob-Black-Twilight
  7. Do Spirit of the Glass with Piolo Pacual (local actor).
I’m not a fan but I like that he's a runner.  I just want to know if he can outrun me when things started to be real scary and who shrills err screams louder. Duh!
  8. Explore a real haunted house with fellow bloggers.
  9. Photo walk with fellow bloggers in a cemetery.
  10. Eat/Taste a real pumpkin pie.
The real and especially-baked pumpkin pie please not the cookies or whatever cheap representation of it (I haven’t tried it really).
Who wants to join me?  Don’t worry I’ll start with number 10.  It’s doable eh? Bwa ha ha ha ha! (evil laugh).

***
And speaking of party, this reminds me of a gorgeous blogger friend  Zai of Zai moonchild who is celebrating his birthday today October 30,  which I think is a perfect date to host a Halloween party ha ha!

Happy birthday my dear Zai!

Some Halloween Random Scenes and Star City Revisited

Happy Halloween!

With so much “going ons” about Halloween and with so little time to write (LOL), I thought of sharing some Halloween scenes I found from my personal “photobasin”

One Halloween, my  little darling was enjoying treat or trick in a mall and the event has a Fashion Show cum “Best in Costume” contest finale that we were able to watch.  And oh boy! the contestants took it really seriously.  I have a lot of photos from this event but here are some of my best bet.

Silver Boys?

I dared talk to this creature to find if he’s really human, when he moved his head to answer me, the kids run away lol.

my little girl won’t even go near this character and to the other scary contestants

black mermaid?

no one wants to go near him to give some alms

Halloween this year…

Due to lots of schedule hassles, we did not go home to my provincial home to spend All Saints Day like we used to do.  We just stayed in the city.   But so as not to waste the long weekend opportunity and to add a little bonding adventure to the kids Halloween and semestral break. we had our _nth visit to Star City.  I might share some of our bonding carnival adventures in the future but for now, I ‘m sharing some Star City’s Halloween scenes.
