Sunday Thoughts and Photograph: You Never Fail To Surprise Me

You don’t look like a nerd. You do a lot of stuff. You’re into a lot of activities…

I seldom see you hold your books and seriously study for exams…

And yet you're able to squeeze your name in the over all list of Outstanding Students - one among the few first years who managed to do that…

I was thinking it's kinda "Mission Impossible" for you because you’re taking a course that is far from your comfort zone.

You love English and Language… now you’re dealing with a field that requires a lot of Mathematics…

So I was ready that mom's privilege and pride would stop when you graduated from high school...

But you still managed to have me climb the recognition stage with you... feel that mom's privilege and pride once again! It’s becoming an annual habit you know…

I am surprised with the recognition… but what surprise me more is this…

Me/Mom: Hey take a look at this they look amazing. Who did this?
This is my favorite (photo above)

Son: Hmn? Really? You like it?

Me/Mom: Yep. It’s really good.  See, I took a photo.

Son: (Grinning) It’s mine. I made it he he. It was a rush job you know.. he he

Me/Mom: (speechless…)

The photograph is taken from my son’s school lobby.  It was the school's Academic Recognition Day and College Fair at the same time.  He is among the academic awardees - Outstanding Students from overall ranking.  I was waiting for the recognition program to start so I  decided to roam around and found several art works displayed all over the school.  I never really thought and expected that the one I'm looking at is my son's work.

I know he plays the piano, the guitar. He cooks and do the chores when I'm too lazy to do them.  He's an Altar Boy who sometimes talks like Google (lol).

But this... it's simple but.... really... I'm speechless...

The success of a child mirrors also on how he was raised up by his parents. So, hats-off to you for raising a witty son!

  6. Weeeh! This made me cry. Hehehe! Maarte kasi ako. Hahaha!

When i was a young boy, masipag ako mag-aral.

Pero it made me happy when I see my parents proud of me, lalu na kapag isinasama ko na sila sa stage, especially one time na umuwi sila ng Pilipinas at saktong graduation.

Later years of my life were quite difficult. I know it sounds lame, i'm nearing my thirties pero hindi pa rin mawala yung bitter emotion na yun sa akin.

Anyway, I don't want to mess up the mood of this post with negativities.

All i want to say is that you're very blessed because your child can still surprise you and make you proud. Cherish it and thank God for your child.

    1. ha ha ok lang Tripster Guy - it made me cry naman din.

The reason why I'm amazed with my son is because hindi sya nerd and he's not very studious. But he can still manage to grab acadermic awards.

About your parents - sometime in my student life medyo naramdaman ko rin yang ganyan feeling. It's sort of nasanay sila na proud sila sayo.

Yes I am very thankful to God for my son. THANK YOU for the congratulations and MORE thank you sa pag-share ng experience mo dito. Very enlightening sa mga readers. God bless...
