What Sports Do You Play? Inspired by the London Olympics 2012

What are the common topics that you frequently hear from casual conversations among people nowadays?  Usually they are about what is the model of the cell phones and gadgets they are using or wanting to buy.  This is because people tend to be carried away by what is currently trending and forget about the more  important matters they need. These gadgets will absolutely make you look “cool” and then later… “COLD”.

Currently trending right now is the London Olympics 2012.  Did this trend affected you even a bit?  What about asking yourself “What sports do I play?”.  Or what physical activity that you are doing that in return is doing good to your body?

We should have at least one sports that we play as we go along with our lives.  One that can help us stay physically fit all along.  It doesn't necessarily need to be a competitive sports or you to be in the competitive level.  Sports benefits are basic and we are all familiar about it, but just the same let me mention some.
  1. It’s fun. It will give you something to do apart from what you are primarily doing.
  2. It will give you a positive body image and self esteem.
  3. You are less likely to be hooked to smoking, drinking and other bad habits.
  4. The physical activities it brings helps relieve stress and reduce depressions.
  5. It develops discipline and help set goals.
  6. It will give you good outlook in winning and losing that will help you deal with success and disappointments.
  7. When you feel physically good the more you are likely to succeed.
  8. It helps develop teamwork and leaderships skills.
  9. It helps you practice strategic thinking.
  10. It will provide you regular exercise that will increase you’re quality of life.
Some people that I know and even some of my fellow bloggers call me athletic because of my running blog.  So some may think that I'm saying this because I’ve been doing it, so easy for me to say this.  The truth is, I’m a late bloomer when it comes to sports and physical activities.  I used to be “lampa” (weak).  I can’t even run short distances.

If there’s one thing that I regret on how I was raise is that, I was NOT exposed to play sports.  I’m not sure why but I grew up that no one in the family is into sports.  We know sports as a thing to watch but no one in the family seriously play any. Thank God in his wisdom He sent me a man who’s into sports.  The man I ‘m married is the same wind beneath my wings who constantly motivate (and drag) me whenever I’m falling out of my physical activities.

Find someone that will motivate you into sports or any physical activities.  A friend, partner, sister or anybody.  If you can’t find one, be the motivator yourself.   I’ve been doing that for over a year now through running and the feeling is fulfilling.

Whatever way you look at it, sports is really beneficial to life.  So better start now.  Give yourself some physical activities before it’s too late.  If you are a parent, start encouraging your kids to learn to play any sports.  Make sports and other physical activities as one family bonding tool.

Anybody wants to share what sports or physical activities that you are doing?  If none and you are looking for some tips, drop a comment down here and I’m sure a lot of my friends here are willing to give their suggestions.

  4. This is so timely. Currently, I'm playing competitive badminton. During my HS days, soccer and swimming is my thing. And I'm like dying as I hooked myself on the coverage of the London Olympics. More particularly, I'm hooked with swimming. It's my ultimate thing. And with it, I even posted several blog entries about my predictions of who's who to dominate in swimming.

    1. Wow JJ you're into a lot of sports! I hope I can too :)
I'm really trying hard to steal some time from my crazy schedule to watch the London Olympics.

I can do a bit of the sports you mentioned. I tried badminton and got an "award" from an association game :) I can swim as well but not competitively and when I've time to tag along with my hubby, I do some laps after running around 5K in Ultra.

On soccer, well I'm a huge fan ha ha ha. It's my hubby's cup of tea so...

  13. Hi ms balut, remember me?

Dami mo sports Super M and they are all exciting. Di ba hihilahin pa kita sa takbuhan? ha ha ha

Sinabi mo pa. Most kids right now are having too much of virtual games which is really really wrong. Kaya nga mga anak ko kasama ko sa takbuhan at pag-jogging :)
